A Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Today I woke up late. I didn’t have time to shower. I put on my favorite pair of sweats, but they have a mysterious hole. Then, I fed my kids breakfast, but the egg was too runny. The egg was cut up instead of being left whole for them to cut. Then I had my breakfast, but my coffee was cold and so was my egg. I knew it was going to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.

Terrible

We we went to my daughter’s wellness check appointment. There were kids already watching the fish. Every time I filled out the paperwork, my son took my other daughter’s hands and she face planted since I was distracted by paperwork.

Then we got flu shots and loaded everyone back into the car. As I was buckling my middle child in, a gust of wind came by and blew all of the paperwork all over the parking lot. I chased the papers through the lot and crawled under cars to get them. Then my kids asked what I was doing and lectured me about running in parking lots. My daughter threw a fit the whole way home. I knew it was going to be a terrible, no good, very bad day.

Horrible

I got everyone home and Door Dashed Chick-Fil-A for lunch. My son was starving and complaining that his shot wasn’t healed. I was feeding the baby. Then everyone washed and was ready for lunch and they forgot my food. I knew it was going to be a terrible, no good, very bad day.

No Good

Then we played outside. Kid 1 spilled their bubbles. Kid 2 laughed. Then, Kid 1 stole kid 2’s bubbles. They don’t fit in the toy car anymore. The slide was too hot. Kid 1 wanted to do the monkey bars, and 2 wanted to swing. Kid 1 got sand in their eye and the baby was eating woodchips and then grass. I knew it was going to be a terrible, no good, very bad day.

Very Bad Day

I was complaining about my day to my husband and telling him that everything went wrong. I didn’t spend enough quality time with the kids. And I lost my temper. The dog wouldn’t stop barking. The dishes are piled up in the sink. The floors are a mess. It was a terrible, no good, very bad day.

But…

He said some days are like that. The kids are fed, they are happy and clean and have a roof over their head. Even on a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.
