Simple and Memorable Holiday Traditions

I love traditions. There is something sweet about the predictability and steadiness of traditions in creating holiday memories.

I remember when we first had kids, the idea of starting holiday traditions intimidated me a bit.  Over the years, though, we’ve developed some well-loved holiday traditions. Some were intentionally started in hopes that we would continue them year after year, some were traditions we were continuing from our childhoods and some were more ‘accidental’ traditions.

Some of our favorite holiday and most memorable traditions are the simplest.

Here are a few of our favorites:

Simple Holiday Traditions

We started this handprint Christmas tree craft 10+ years ago. I didn’t intend it to continue necessarily, but it did, and now hanging these side by side every year is one of my favorite decorations. I love seeing our family grow through these hand prints.

We open one gift on Christmas Eve and it’s always a new pair of pajamas. Who doesn’t love a fun new pair of winter pj’s?

Christmas lights, popcorn and cocoa.  Even before we had kids, my husband and I enjoyed driving around to look at Christmas lights. This tradition is one of the nights each Christmas season that we all look forward to.
