I’m back with some more motivation to help you work towards your fitness goals!

The holidays are HERE in case you didn’t know, and I have some tips to help you avoid the dreaded holiday weight gain.

  1. Don’t skip meals in anticipation of having one large meal later. Eat as you normally would; a light breakfast and maybe a small lunch so that you already have food in your belly. That way you aren’t as tempted to eat everything in sight.
  2. elf-1-cropBe “picky” with all the food that is offered. You do NOT have to eat/try everything that is available. If you try something and don’t like it, you don’t have to force yourself to finish it.
If there is something there you like better than anything else, take a few of your favorite items and savor them. Slow down (unlike Elf, who didn’t read my tips) and enjoy your holiday feast!
  3.  Chew gum! Ok, maybe you have heard this once or twice before, but it’s because it works!! Once you are satisfied, grab some sparkling water and a piece of gum..you won’t be tempted to keep eating. Not only does it keep you from eating more food, (especially if it’s a winter green/mint flavor) but it will give you delicious smelling breath. Your welcome.
  4. Do something active. I know what you are thinking…. “she’s asking me to exercise after I loaded up my belly with delicious, sleep inducing, holiday food?” No, I’m definately not asking you to bust out an Insanity workout! Instead, have some active, fun time with your friends! Whether you are doing the entertaining, or whether you are a guest at a party, be prepared for something fun! Maybe you can play some card games, board games, or some super fun minute to win it type of games. Maybe you can go for a nice walk, or play some hide-and-seek with the kiddos to have some bonding time with your friends and family!
  5. partida-tequila-holiday-drinks-aLimit the alcohol! GASP! “Now she’s asking me to cut down on my alcohol intake?” YES! Absolutely! It’s so easy to cut some major calories if you cut down on those drinks. Here’s the plan: alternate between some sparkling/regular water and an alcoholic beverage instead of reaching for one alcoholic drink after the next. Not only does it save your calories, but it gets more water in your body which helps you flush out all the “toxins” you are ingesting. Once again, your welcome!
