Rachel is a native Coloradoan, though originally from the Western Slope. She followed her husband Chris to his hometown of Colorado Springs after having met in engineering school at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. Together they have four beautiful children, Tommy (2011), Tazzy (2014), Zach (2015) and Zinny (2018). Having a young and active family keeps Rachel on her toes trying to find ways to keep the ship sailing while still meeting all the demands of motherhood. Though Rachel loves her most important role as Mommy most, she also works full time outside the home as a Water Resources Engineer for the Colorado Division of Water Resources. This role helps keep her life centered, bouncing from detailed and complex discussions relating to Colorado Water Law with her husband ( a mechanical engineer) to daycare and preschool drop off and pick up schedules, while being constantly interrupted by the equally complex musings of her 4 year.

Dishes I was given or collected, but simply added to the stack rather than to replace another one. Too much stuff, everywhere, there is too much stuff.

Holiday Traditions For The Tired Spirit: Focus on the Small Stuff

Instead of driving myself nuts trying to check every box, we focus on the little things like how gross the slimy insides of pumpkins feel on our hands and how good it tastes to lick the frosting off the mixing beaters. In the end, it is about the time we spend together.

Dear “Me, Too…” You’re Bold, Thank You.

I am so grateful to the huge number of simple, quiet posts, "Me, too." The number is overwhelming. It should not be okay that the majority of women I know, of every age and background, have dealt with this. Whether they were raped, assaulted, degraded, belittled or made to feel uncomfortable, it does not matter. It is not okay.

Summer 17: In Memorium

Summer was a model of ambition. She planned to live life to the fullest extent possible by squeezing every last moment out of everyday. She dreamed of creating a lifelong passion in her children by taking them adventuring, traveling, exploring and memory making. But even the most ambitious of us are only given so many hours in the day.
When is enough, enough?

You Might Be A Tired Mother If…

“You look tired.” Duh, I am fully aware I look tired. I was made aware that I am tired by the difficulty I had dragging my big butt out of bed this morning after getting...

Hey Mamas: Let’s Be Warriors for Our Children, Not Worriers

Wear Sunscreen. As a freshman in high school, wanting to be considered cool by my Senior brother and his friends, I listened repeatedly to a popular "song" they liked called, "Everybody's Free to Wear Sunscreen"....
