I am a stay-at-home mom to my 2 year old daughter and soon to be, newborn son this September. My husband and I met in college and immediately moved to Colorado Springs because of new jobs. We have lived here for 5 years and love the area. It is home. I grew up in Idaho in a small town on a farm, so everything country runs in my veins. I love to read, write, sew, craft, bake, ski, and swim.

Top 5 Live Music Venues in Colorado Springs

I had the pleasure of taking my three-year-old daughter to the Ent Center to see "Singing in the Rain, Jr." performed by a local youth theatre group. It was wonderful. The show was fun, the music was great, and the venue is eclectic. The design of the building is fascinating. Everything, including the bathrooms, have a modern vibe. The building contains four separate music venues and a visual arts gallery. There are a couple of small cafes to buy food during the intermission of the programs.

We Filter Our Pictures. Why Not Our Words?

They not only mistakenly thought I was pregnant, but they insulted my body shape right after to try to cover themselves. I ran out of the room in tears, wishing that I was in a different body than my own. I was mortified, embarrassed, and depressed for a few days after that. And I have prayed ever since that I never make someone else feel that way.

Gardening: Therapy for Mamas and Fun for Kids

I have learned to plant things that grow well in our climate. Colorado’s weather is dry and mostly sunny. Plants that need a lot of humidity don’t grow well here. I have found great success with lettuce, zucchini, tomatoes, and green beans. But melons, peppers, and cauliflower have not done well. So I don’t plant them. I grow more of the vegetables that grow well.
