MyVillage offers a new option for local families. By Erica Mackey, CEO and Co-Founder, MyVillage For me, the struggle to find affordable, high quality childcare is personal. When I became a mom for the first time in 2016, I had no...
So, are you ready for it? Do you have your notepad and pen out? Let’s be real - is the little yellow notepad up on your phone? Okay, good. Let’s do this.
I have been watching friends of mine navigate their children’s senior year and upcoming graduations—the excitement, the drama, the heartache of letting your child grow up. My kids are tweens, so I am still a newbie to this phase...
School is back in full swing and if you’re anything like me, your plate just got a lot fuller. With after-school practices and homework to juggle amongst other things, there are only so many hours in the day. How I'm...

This past year, even grandma got involved! My retired mother has extra time on her hands and ended up in my daughter’s class on a weekly basis. Having this extension of our family in the school and participating only strengthened our tie to the school. Now, grandma and grandpa have a better idea of what my kids are learning. This translates into more engaging conversation between them and a stronger bond.
Work to remember what they’ve told you about certain school friends, certain likes and dislikes and their ideas for the future. These important things will come up again. When we recall previous conversations, our kids know we are listening and care about them.
This organization exists to support the school as well as the teachers and students. They are responsible for fun family events, teacher and staff appreciation, student award recognition, holiday celebrations and more. And, yes, there is some fund raising involved for things like school trips, band uniforms or helping to add more books to the library.
