Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Series is the world’s largest and most successful education and fundraising event for breast cancer ever created.

Your participation and fundraising provides women and men in the Susan G. Komen Colorado South area (Pueblo, Otero, Teller, Fremont and El Paso counties) with services that have literally saved lives.

7th annual Strides for Epilepsy 5K, the largest epilepsy awareness event in the Southern Colorado region. Celebrate the run/walk with music, dancing and family fun! Proceeds benefit the programs and services provided by the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado.

10th Annual Be Ovary Aware 5k Run 3k Walk at America the Beautiful Park! The out-and-back course runs along beautiful, flat Fountain Creek, ending with festivities at the park! All paid participants will receive an event shirt, a runners’ bag, a door prize ticket and post-race snacks provided by Wooglin’s Deli and an official time (5k only).

Time: 7 AM- 1:30:: 7 AM (Full & Half Marathon), 7:05 (5K), 10:45 (Kids K)

The Colorado Springs Marathon presented by Penrose-St. Francis, is a community running event that features a full marathon, half marathon, and 5k. This family friendly race is a premiere endurance running event, attracting people from 26 different states.

All participants will receive a technical t-shirt and finisher medal.

Location: Camp Shady Brook near Deckers, CO

Competitive Wave* (4 athletes): $75 per athlete
Non-Competitive Wave* (4 athletes): $50 per athlete
Family Wave (minimum of 3 athletes): $40 per athlete

This is one of our favorite fundraisers. With your adventurous nature and philanthropist heart, registering for this event allows more kids to attend camp at Camp Shady Brook YMCA! Adventures for everyone! Each team of 4 will race in a variety of endurance disciplines, including orienteering/navigation, cross-country running/hiking, mountain biking, paddling and other challenges! Runners can look forward to a large vendor area with interactive booths and a food truck fest. Be prepared for an amazing day!

These races focus on cross country running, using the trails and obstacles that are offered at each race venue. The courses are challenging, and sometimes a bit crazy, but the atmosphere is filled with smiles and fun. By design, these are not your ordinary 5K or 10K races.

KID SERIES:

As long as kids are big enough to walk, they can participate in the kids’ series! Each kid can run whatever distance they feel comfortable with. This is a trail series and may include such things as hay bales, rocks, water, and other obstructions. Each child receives a ribbon after each race & it’s FREE!

Join us in celebrating our 10th annual XTERRA Marathon of Trail Races at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in Colorado Springs! The marathon is a double loop of the half marathon and both start and finish at the Day Use Trailhead. The trails are well groomed, packed and extra wide and are true to the XTERRA name…challenging and rewarding.

TESSA is excited to host our 2nd annual 5K Survivor’s Run on October 13, 2018 in America the Beautiful Park. This will be a space for survivors of domestic and sexual violence to run – or walk! – together in solidarity, alongside their family, friends, and a community of supporters. Please consider joining us solo or with a team to show vocal and visible support for survivors of interpersonal violence in the Pikes Peak Region.

Registration includes a race t-shirt, as well as a bag full o’ swag on the day of the event!

Colorado College presents the 30th Annual Tiger Classic 5K to benefit the Tiger Pride Fund. Each participant receives an official race day t-shirt (sizes not guaranteed for race day registrations). Prizes for the top 3 finishers in each 10 year age group.

Location: The event will take place mostly on Tejon street between Costilla and Cache La Poudre Street.

Time: 7:30 AM

Registration Fee: Advance is $35, Day-of the event is $40, and includes a Waldo or Wenda kit that includes a shirt, hat and glasses.

Thousands of Waldos and Wendas will take to the streets in downtown Colorado Springs, Saturday – October 20, 2018. Waldo Waldo is the region’s most popular untimed 5K walk and fun run. Local exhibitors, music, and food trucks all added to the fun. Best of all, registered participants receive a Where’s Waldo costume kit. Money raised benefits local nonprofits that support community priorities like Waldo Canyon restoration and trail maintenance.

Runners of all ages and ability are welcome – walkers and strollers too!

Location: Downtown Manitou Springs

Time: 12-4 PM

Manitou Springs celebrates the 24th Annual Emma Crawford Coffin Races & Festival on Saturday, October 27, 2018. The Parade starts at 12:00 pm followed by up to 70 teams racing coffins down Manitou Avenue for the ultimate victory! Each team consists of one Emma and four runners dressed in costume. The fastest 3 timed places earn trophies as well as a chance at Best Entourage, Best Coffin, a 2018 Miss Emma will be crowned, and a new team destined to race for the Coffin Cup in Nederland at the 2019 Frozen Dead Guy Days – so come dressed to impress, and race your face off!

Join us for the 11th annual Creepy Crawl 5K and Kids’ Monster Dash presented by Kaiser Permanente at the spooky yet beautiful Palmer Lake Sante Fe Trailhead! Costumes are encouraged with a TON of prizes ready to reward your creativity. There will be treasure to be had and jams by D Rock. You’ll have a great time while making it possible for our friends and neighbors in need to access membership and programs at the Y.

Girls on the Run 5ks are an awesome end of season celebration where girls exude joy and confidence as they complete a 3.1 mile run. Run in this awesome event alongside our GOTR girls, but only if you want to be a part of the most fun 5K ever!

On November 22, 2018, the Briargate Family YMCA is hosting our 21st annual Turkey Trot 5K and Kids’ Tiny Trot presented by Kaiser Permanente in Colorado Springs, Colorado!

The Turkey Trot 5K and Kids’ Tiny Trot are the eagerly anticipated holiday event of the season and are a fundraiser for the YMCA. This fundraiser enables us to provide scholarships to local families in need, which, in turn, allows them access to the YMCA and its many programs.

Get ready to Rock the 10th Annual Jingle Bell 5K and Kids’ Reindeer Romp on Saturday, December 8 as we take on the fun and festive course at the Fountain Creek Regional Park!

Wear your reindeer antlers, your ugly sweater, your santa suit, your bells, bows, and best cheer! Santa will be there, too! This year, all proceeds will benefit the Welte Teen Center in Fountain.

She grew up in a household with four younger siblings and graduated from University of California, Santa Cruz. She and her husband are raising their elementary school aged children in the Briargate area. With kids in school full time, Kristal is an active member of the PTA, and spends time working in local schools. She is passionate about connecting moms in our community.
