One of our family hobbies is playing board games. But sometimes, it’s fun to play games with just me and my husband. It’s a meaningful way to spend time together doing something we both enjoy that doesn’t involve the TV. It’s an awesome and inexpensive stay-at-home date night, too! After the kids are in bed, pour a couple glasses of wine and spend some quality time with your spouse. Here’s my list of favorite two-player board (and other) games for couples.

Puzzle Games

Blokus Duo – If you like Tetris, you’ll love this puzzle game. It plays quickly and is great when you only have 15 or 20 minutes.

Patchwork – This is another awesome game for people who enjoy puzzles and Tetris. The super cute quilt making theme adds to the fun. This game plays in about 30 minutes.

Strategy Games

7 Wonders: Duel – Build your own kingdom and erect wonders of the world in this game. It takes about an hour to play, and you’ll fall in love with it if you enjoy games that require strategy.

Hive – This game is similar to chess and will challenge you to decide if you should protect yourself or attack your opponent. I personally love the bug theme and think it adds to the fun. It plays in about 30 minutes.

Card Games

Lost Cities – This card game will challenge your ability to plan and give you a bit of that “luck of the draw” feeling. It’s great for couples who love adventures!

Tides of Time – This is a little card drafting game that is played in three rounds. You’ll build a kingdom and try to outscore your opponent. I love the theme and the beautiful artwork.

Love Letter – This isn’t a two player game; it plays up to four people. This small card game is about taking risks and your ability to figure out what cards other players have so you can make a good play. It’s super easy to learn and quick to play.
